Excursions Are The Best...

One way to lift one's spirits is to discover a new place to visit.

It's so awesome to go to a town one has never seen before.

Because farm stores are of great interest, the thought of going to Kinderhook Farm in Valatie, (pronounced vah-lay-shee-ah) New York became very pleasant.

Since this is school vacation week in western Massachusetts, it turned out to be the perfect time to explore a new place.

One of my sisters drove her beautiful new car so the ride became even more delightful.

The breath-taking views took one's breath away.  Flocks of sheep in the expansive green field beyond the fence made it look like we were in Ireland or England instead of New York.

There were chickens, too, and their fresh eggs for sale in the Farm Store came in different shades of color.

All kinds of meats, including fresh bacon, steaks, and roasts could be purchased, too.  I bought bacon, hamburger meat, and a dozen of the beautiful eggs.

Hopefully, each of them will be a delicious treat.

The visit to Valatie and Kinderhook Farm made some sweet memories on a bright and golden April afternoon.

WHAT WAS THE LAST PLACE YOU EXPLORED?

Angels Watching Over Us...

It's comforting to think that a Power greater than ourselves has set angels to watch over us.

When thinking of all the times would be disasters in my life were averted, it's not hard to believe in angels.

They really can and do protect human beings from harm.

Figurines of angels seem to multiply overnight.

There are several angel figures on the dresser top in this apartment's bedroom and they always bring smiles upon seeing them.

Someday, it's hoped that real angels in the heavenly realm will be seen.

It's exciting to think of hearing their singing.

In the meantime, when sun pours down through the bedroom window and floods the dresser top angels in its light, there will be choruses of "thank yous" for everything in our lives  that has been given.

It is always the right time to say "thank you" for all our blessings.

DO YOU EVER TALK TO ANGELS?

Darling Doilies

Modern home decorators think doilies are signs of an old-fashioned grandmother's residence.

They discourage people from using them in their homes as they would surely be a sign of outdated merchandise.

Well, you know what?  It doesn't matter what anybody says when it comes to doilies being old-fashioned because I love them!

Yes, they sometimes do remind me of my late maternal grandmother. She used to crochet incredibly beautiful doilies without even following a pattern.

Her handiwork was just exquisite.

When elderly aunties of mine left on their great journeys to the other side, I came into several doilies from their households.

While it's impossible to remember where a white and deep pink doily originated, today it gives a very unique look to a small lace-covered table in my small apartment.

(By the way, the lace "tablecloth" is really two curtain panels.

They have to substitute until a real, square lace tablecloth can be found. ha!

They actually look quite pretty.)

The pink roses in the cut glass rose bowl is on the table, too, as well as two Luminara candles.

The candle flames look exactly like real flames but they are not. However, that's a story to tell in another blog post.

Hear, hear it for doilies in this apartment.
